Qatari PM Blames Palestinian Group for Gaza Ceasefire Violation, Urges Calm Amid Rising Tensions

(BOLONEWS) – Doha/New York : Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has blamed a Palestinian group for the recent ceasefire violation.

He said the killing of an Israeli soldier in the southern Gaza Strip was actually a violation of the agreement by the Palestinian side.

Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, the Qatari prime minister said that although Hamas has announced that it has no connection to the incident, this claim has not yet been confirmed.

He said that Qatar is in contact with both sides to ensure that the ceasefire remains in place, and that the US involvement is playing an important role in this matter.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman said that “what happened on Tuesday was definitely a violation, and we are trying to bring the situation under control.”

He added that the delay in the transfer of the bodies of the martyrs by Hamas was also discussed during the talks, and Qatar made it clear that this process is part of the agreement that must be fully implemented.

The Qatari prime minister acknowledged that peace efforts have faced numerous obstacles since October 2023, but Qatar is trying to keep the fresh ceasefire agreement intact.

He described the incident as “disappointing and regrettable” and said that efforts are being made to manage the situation in full coordination with the United States.
